Anonymous blogging protects the identity of the blogger, particularly if he wants to represent only his own views, without linking them to his employer, or other groups he associates with (e.g., professional societies).
However, readers have a right to some indication of potential conflicts of interest, as well as the qualifications, of the blogger. I will try to address these without giving away enough details to unmask my identity.
My career has been in the physical and life sciences. My academic training was more heavily weighted on the physical sciences, but subsequently I pursued employment in the life sciences in the private sector and in government.
I do not plan to blog about issues related to my former or present employers or the specific sectors of the economy in which they operate. I also do not plan to blog about companies or products in which I have any financial stake. I am not receiving financial support to maintain this blog, and my efforts on it are done on my own time.
